Eze Chimalio is currently working on some very funny comic strip parodies of the (now not so) YBAs. Sneak preview coming soon.
Eze Chimalio’s sharp, succinct sketches and stories got me thinking about our own issues and experiences that we often don’t recall or verbalise.
The themes of capitalism, abuse of power, sexuality, the ambiguity and existence of love and lies are here to allow us to explore and think about but are sometimes too afraid to voice. It reminded me of Giovanni Malito’s Slingshot poems written in a stream of consciousness in two hours, of all the dark thoughts that leaves us wanting something more in our lives.
I love the art on the front cover.
Shame there isn’t a soundtrack to accompany the book.
